Spine and 2D isometric
Hi,
I didn't found so much examples with isometrics models made with spine. This thread is interesting http://ko.esotericsoftware.com/forum/How-about-a-classic-isometric-RPG-3795
I'm not really good with spine but I can do a decent work with side characters. But when I try to work on isometric models (walk/run), I feel restricted by the editor. (This is obvious because isometric isn't really '2D'.)
I do not know what is necessary to make a nice isometric editor, and you know that kind of things better than me. But some tools, to make the isometric stuff more friendly would be really nice.
So i was wondering if anything was planned for isometric with spine?
Thanks
Like 3D effects, 2.5D effects can be done in Spine, it just takes a bit of extra effort since we only have 2D information. We have worked on some prototypes to assist with 3D effects that would also be helpful for 2.5D, but we don't have plans to make this available in the short term.
About the isometric topic, I found these threads to be pretty interesting:
Isometric animated character
8-way movement with one skeleton
I found interesting the workflow of having all the skeletons under a same root and binded to a bone that you use as a base to keep it all together but that you move around to have space to model the new direction, and that you can later collapse to the root position to get everything together again.
It's not official but I think it's helpful at least (:
