Every now and then, I see people playing games on their phones or PCs or whatever,
and I notice some 2D skeletal + mesh animation that's inspiring or, at the very least, a bit intriguing.
What skeletal animation have you seen that made you curious or want to use skeletal animation?
TV, games— new and old and really old—, whatever. It doesn't matter. This topic takes any samples.
I'll go first:
I was watching my girlfriend play some recent Team Lava (now Storm8) games.
Bubble Mania had an interesting procedural skeletal posing thing going on with its main character (who happens to be the shooter avatar in this bubble shooter/puzzle bobble game) during the aiming phase.
The thoroughness of the aiming-posing isn't very visible in this video but it's pretty fun seeing it in action in-game.
Some of the transition animations throughout the game are a bit rough (or jarringly missing), but for the most part, it's just charming all over.
