It seems like you're encountering an issue with audio events in Spine on your Mac M1. Here are a few steps you can take to troubleshoot and potentially resolve the issue:
Check Audio File Format: Ensure that your WAV files are in the correct format. They need to be PCM, 1 or 2 channels, and 16 bits per sample. You can use tools like sox to convert your audio files if necessary.
Visibility Dot: Make sure the visibility dot next to the event in the tree is active. If it's not, the audio won't play and won't show in the audio view. This is mentioned in the Events - Spine User Guide.
Multiple Skeletons: If your project has multiple skeletons, ensure that the correct skeleton is selected to see the event keys in the dopesheet/graph. There was a known bug where one skeleton could affect the audio events in another, which might be fixed in the latest versions.
Log File: Check your spine.log
file for any errors related to audio. You can find more information on how to access and interpret the log file here.
Reopen Project: Sometimes, simply reopening the project can resolve issues related to audio events, especially if multiple skeletons are involved.
Update Spine: Ensure you are using the latest version of Spine. There have been fixes related to audio issues in recent updates, such as in version 4.2.10-beta.
If these steps do not resolve the issue, you might need to provide more details or share your project file with the support team for further investigation.
MLaudio I am sorry to hear that you are experiencing errors. The screenshot of your spine.log file contains the email address on your license, so I deleted it, but kept the contents. If you attach the spine.log file in the future, please copy and paste the contents or attach the file itself. This forum automatically reads the license information from the text and converts it to suppressed text.
I am not sure what is causing your problem yet, but since the version of Spine Launcher you are using is not the latest one, so could you try upgrading to the latest version and see if the same problem occurs? To update your version of Spine Launcher, please download the latest installer from your Spine license page and reinstall Spine. (The latest Spine Launcher version is 4.2.18).
Misaki,
I appreciate the reply.. And sorry about that, im new to the forum and new to spine sometwhat. Im actually a Sound Engineer and the Animators at our company use Spine. I noticed the project was saved in 4.1.24 so i updated the launcher but reverted the editor from 4.2.35 back to 4.1.24 and now the audio events playback and dont have the red icon by the audio file.
However, im encountering a new problem. When i hit play i hear pops / crackles right at the start of playback, and when the animation loops. I have fades on the start and end of the audio so there shouldn't be any. Any ideas what may be going on there?
Matt
The latest launcher can run any editor version, so running 4.1.24 is fine. I'm glad updating the launcher lets you hear audio. There shouldn't be crackling though!
How long is the audio clip that has this problem? Does it happen every time audio is played? If audio is playing and another clip is also played, does the second clip have crackling?
What audio hardware are you using? Spine uses OpenAL, which talks to the OS, which then talks to the driver for your hardware. It is worth updating drivers for your hardware if possible, since that is the part of the chain that can vary user to user.
Spine opens the audio device at 44.1 kHz. That should be fine and should get mapped to whatever sample rate your hardware uses, but since you get crackling you could try changing your audio device to 44.1 kHz. When it matches it avoids a sample rate conversion.
Nate I just did some more testing and it appears not to be the actual audio file but rather something to do with the audio event and the timeline. When i hit play at "0" on the timeline you can hear obvious crackling (and at the end loop point), but if i remove the audio event its gone. Also when i move the audio start point over to the 60 frame mark, you get no crackling when the audio actually comes in, but you can still hear it on initial playback.
If i export this to MOV, you can hear the crackling as well in the export.
I recorded a screen capture showing the issues. Do you mind if i send that to you guys through email or PM?
Also i may be completely missing something or doing something wrong here so i apologize in advance. I usually only use Spine to get the MOV's i need to build audio to.
Sure, you can email it to us here: contact@esotericsoftware.com
There's nothing you could be doing to cause crackling! Hopefully we can reproduce the problem once we see the video, then we'll be able to fix it.
Thanks for sending the video! While we can't reproduce the issue, we have a potential fix that looks promising. It will be in the next editor release (4.2.36).
