  • Hide app shortcut on Mac

Just wondering if there's ever been any discussion about implementing the Hide app (Command + H) shortcut on Mac?

It's obviously not something that's required, but I'm finding it incredibly frustrating to have to hide the app via the right click menu of the app icon in the dock. It's standard/expected behaviour for Mac applications that Command + H hides the app, and that a Hide App option is available from the App's menu item in the Menu Bar.

geowal-wondeluxe Hmmm, you are probably the first person to point this out.

I looked into the case of Photoshop to see what other applications do, and it seems that by default cmd+H is assigned a different action, but if you edit the keyboard shortcut, you can assign an operation to hide Photoshop. We might consider whether such a hotkey could be added to Spine as well.

Misaki Yeah my understanding is that the reason it's different in Photoshop is because it predates Mac OS X (see: https://community.adobe.com/t5/photoshop-ecosystem-discussions/how-do-i-hide-a-selection/m-p/13451518#M693906).

With the exception a couple of Adobe apps (I believe cmd + h is mapped to something else by default in Illustrator as well), every other app on Mac uses the shortcut for Hide.

It's not a bug obviously, but it breaks the consistent user experience we generally get on Mac.

geowal-wondeluxe Sorry for the delay, but I have created a ticket for this issue: EsotericSoftware/spine-editor775

I looked at the Adobe Illustrator case after seeing your reply, and it still seemed to be possible to hide the application with cmd + H by editing the keyboard shortcut settings.
