Future Ideas / Requests

Hello guys! It's awesome to see how you are improving Spine in each new update. Congrats and thanks for your amazing work.
However, there's a bunch of things that are still problems for me, and I would really love to see fixed. Hope it helps!
My greatest difficulty is still working with the organization of the layers in the dopesheet.
Although I have developed a "method" of work that helps me to better visualize my position (using empty bones, colors and symbols), it is still uncomfortable to work with characters with many bones.
Although I know that I can block the order of the layers, see each of the bones separately and create selection groups, it would be great to be able to organize the dopesheet in folders.
This topic was discussed here: http://esotericsoftware.com/forum/Spine-Editor-Feature-ideas-requests-9211?p=41704&hilit=+folders+dopesheet#p41704
Adobe Animate has something similar in its timeline, and allows you to group content into folders (although it does not work with bones, but it can serve as a reference).
And Adobe Photoshop also allows you to choose the color of the folders. This could be very practical when you need to quickly visualize the content.
Also I really miss being able to see the bone path in the "ghost editor".
When animating, the route that the curves draw is really important in many cases. Some 3d animation programs, such as Maya, incorporate the possibility of visualizing the curve that the bones will make.
Although I know that you have currently made some changes to the ghost panel, always viewing the mesh is often a nuisance. I think that adding the possibility of seeing the curve that the bones trace can be very practical for most. I have done a small example image to give you some ideas, I hope it helps.
And finally, it would really be wonderful to be able to choose from a greater variety of bone icons. Especially to work in the dopesheet, the icons and colors are incredibly useful.
Another possibility would be to upload our own icons in PNG format, or create a "library of icons of the spine community" that we could send to approve, and download later from the web or through the program.
I hope these ideas help. You have a wonderful project, and it would be great to be able to continue improving it among all.
Thank you.
Sounds super sensible, yes please!
Hello and welcome to the Spine forums!
Thank you for sharing your ideas with us. Currently our focus is on the new graph editor, but we recently added folders to some of the views in Spine, so it's possible we can add them to the Dopesheet as well in the future.
Regarding the bone paths, I can't say if we will be able to get around to this anytime soon.
Are there any specific bone icons you would like? I think uploading your own icons in PNG is a little beyond the scope of what we can do right now, but I wouldn't mind creating some more icons.
Thank you @Shiu for your quick answer!
I know you guys have been working in the graph editor for a while, and can't wait to see it!
I have seen the new folders for the Events in the latest version, and it would be perfect if there was any way of adding something similar to the Dopesheet, thanks! For me, the most important thing is keeping my workspace organized (and in the same way I left it) each time I open Spine.
Regarding to the icons, I have made some sketches with suggestions:
Probably what I'm missing the most are basic body features, and I'm sure they would be helpful for other artists animating characters: Full Body, Face, Nose, Ears and Hair.
Also, I suggest doing a Tail and Wings icon for animals and other humanoid characters.
Some basic clothes as Top, Bottom (full, left side and right side) and Hat/Head Accesory would also be perfect.
The basic shapes you already have are awesome, although I am really missing some Half Sphere icon (in the 4 directions), that could be used for multiple purposes (such as eyelids, top and bottom lip, ears, etc).
And finally, I feel like the Numbers available right now are a bit difficult to read once they are ni the workspace. Probably regular 1 to 10 numbers are easier to see for me, but that's a personal opinion.
Thank you so much for listening to our Ideas and Requests, as always!
Hi again,
I'll be creating some additional icons soon. Thank you for the suggestions!
regarding folders. As you mentioned, we're focusing on the curve editor right now. It's not impossible that folders will be added to the dopesheet at some point, but it's not going to be high on the priority list short term.
