In photoshop, find guideline position
I created guidelines in a PSB, gave it to my artist, he did some work, and then when he sent me the work, the guidelines were gone. He may have removed them. Is there a way I can look at my old file that has the guidelines and recreate them in the new file in the exact same position as they were before? The canvas size is the same in both files.
Hello! A quick way to check if the guides are still there but hidden, is to press Ctrl+H
. If nothing appears, I found that the easiest way to restore the file is to group all the contents of the new files, then duplicate the group and choose as destination the old file. This will place the artwork centered correctly in the old file. You can then delete the group and save the old file to have the guides in the correct place again.
Thanks! I'm not foo familiar with photoshop though. Are these steps all done in photoshop?
Yes, they are (:
To put them in bullet points:
- check if guides exist in the current document by pressing
Ctrl+H
- if nothing appears, open the old document with guides
- with the old and new documents both open, select all layers in the new document, then press
Ctrl+G
to group them - right click the folder, then choose
Duplicate group...
- Choose as destination the old document then press ok
- The new files are now in the old document, centered accordingly. You can get rid of the folder, tidy things up, then export to Spine as usual.
Great, thanks
