So I bought Wallpaper engine and played with it a little bit, it's very cool!
Here's the two workshop items I published so far:
Owl that follows the mouse: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1848270557
Just a windmill using the old Spine widget: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1848268108
The two examples use an external loading from my website because it won't load the files locally (sigh) but they show how you can add a simple scene which is very lightweight, or an interactive one very simply!
If you wish to do something similar to the owl, download the files from the workshop, upload the files on a webspace.
Make sure to have a left, right, up, down animation, as well as an idle animation. it's important that the idle animation has a key that defines where the head controller should be, or it will explode on your screen without one. Then replace the json names and the animation names with your own ones.
Regarding the tools wallpaper engine offers to animate, well, they are nice if you intend to do tiny little things, but of course there's no comparison with the freedom Spine offers, especially considering interactivity 😃 Also there's no reason they shouldn't simply work together. Thanks for sharing this tool, now I can finally have my little owl peeking at my work haha.
If you have further questions I'll be happy to answer 😃
